Announcing the winner of our first-ever Name the Franchise contest: Neil Adams from San Francisco!

Back in June, we asked Backlot members to come up with a snazzy new name for our annual October Horror festival.  Hundreds of entries poured in and were judged by a top-tier panel of TCM experts: SVP of Marketing and Creative Pola Changnon, SVP of Programming Charlie Tabesh, and General Manager Jennifer Dorian.  In the end, they picked Neil's suggestion of Terror Classic Movies, a name that's instantly clever, fun, and perfectly TCM.  It was also one of Neil's first ideas.  "I’m a little embarrassed to admit I thought of this pretty quickly," he says.  "I immediately knew I wanted to play off 'TCM' and that narrowed down my adjective options."

"I’m thrilled and flattered to have won this contest," Neil adds.  "I’m sure the higher-ups at TCM had some really great submissions, and I’m sure the decision couldn’t have been easy to make."

In addition to bragging rights, Neil won a collection of movies personally curated by TCM Programmer Millie De Chirico, as well as a rare TCM press copy of Night at the Movies: The Horrors of Stephen King.  Neil tells us that he can't wait to share the movies with his friends.  "I love so many things about TCM, but mostly I love the education I get from you all," he says.  "Education not only from the hosts and guest hosts, but also from the theme programming that is offered during the daytime, which highlights many other artists, both in front of and behind the camera."

Thanks for the great name suggestion, Neil!  Enjoy watching the movies next month and hearing guest host Ron Perlman say... Welcome to Terror Classic Movies.
