Dar Burgard from Aberdeen, SD

Aside from watch TCM, what do you do?

Read. When I was growing up all five of us kids went to bed with a book, I'd turn mine over next to my pillow so I could begin again the moment I awoke. Write, poetry, and a story idea is my current project. Theater, I love to act! We have a Community theater that is reminiscent of the "golden days" of Hollywood. And an incredible director. I'm also still involved in our real estate business, and when that's in full swing I fall into bed at night with TCM and relax!

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Popcorn and milk duds! Yummy, of course at the same time but not together, otherwise you may get your teeth stuck together in a most unflattering way!

What’s your favorite part of TCM?

The wealth of movies available for us to enjoy, and the hosts. Each host is unique and are so informative, sometimes I have to shush my husband so I can enjoy the afterwords at the movie's end. I've met two hosts, both were warm, delightful. ("Bar room not classroom" and "I fell in love with Hildy Johnson.") Still miss Robert Osborne, a true TCM gentleman.

What’s your favorite movie genre?

Drama and Mysteries. Give me a Hitchcock any day plus a melodrama to draw me in, I'm apt to ignore what's going on around me as I become enraptured to what's on screen.

Who’s your favorite actor or actress or filmmaker of all time? And why?

Elizabeth Taylor fascinates me so I must include her as a top fave. Her captivating looks, wide range of emotions, from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to adorable young Elizabeth with Lassie.

Filmmaker, must go to Hitch, and actor? Oh I love Cary Grant, now there is a leading man who absolutely should have recieved an Oscar!

Who would you be thrilled to meet, and what would you say?

Vivacious or vicious, Elizabeth Taylor. Are her looks as mesmerizing in person? What would she change, if able, about her life? Did she really love Eddie Fisher or was that just a reaction to her excruciating loss of Mike Todd? And so much more. I'd probably get more personal and suspect I'd rapidly find out her real personality.

What do you collect?

Books. I have them everywhere and never leave for a VACA without a plethora. I have a little library in my home but they seem to have spilled out throughout the house and stacks are at home by my bed. Every genre, topic and era.

If you had to pick just one, what would be your favorite movie?

Oh dear. Gone With the Wind I've seen so many times I've lost count. It covers life from one aspect to another, in the extremes! But I'm also enraptured with Gaslight, and any Hitch film. Sorry, I could keep naming them but I know that's not how it works.
