When you're not watching TCM, what do you do?
Apart from my career in education, my to-dos are fairly straightforward: prolific reader of all genres, eclectic taste in music (particularly film scores), Disney theme parks, & my two kids.
What’s your favorite movie snack?
My snack is of the liquid variety... always brew Starbucks to sip and enjoy. The number of cups is dependent on the length of the film.
In the theater, I don't snack but rather immerse myself in the atmosphere and movie.
What’s your favorite part of TCM?
How consistently entertaining TCM's programming is: whether it's introducing me to a classic film I have never seen before, revisiting one, or acquainting my family and friends with a movie's magic.
For example, recently was on a high school band trip with my daughter, got back to the hotel late after the performance, and while we ate our late nite snacks, we turned on TCM and Danny Kaye's Wonder Man came on... it was her first time seeing Kaye, and one of his that I'd never seen... we laughed ourselves silly.
I have TCM to thank for creating that special memory with my daughter!
What’s your favorite movie genre?
Love them all, but here are some essentials: I love my heroes good, my villains bad, my comedy screwball, my drama rich, songs with melody, dance with step, love scenes not sex and, of course, I'm a sucker for a happy ending!
All things I find in the classics on TCM...
Who’s your favorite actor or actress or filmmaker of all time? And why?
TCM has introduced me to so many new favorites. However, when it comes down to it, I'd have to say Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn top them all. From a child, Grant captivated me, becoming a boy's icon of cool sophistication, style of what a man could be. And Audrey... well, I fell in love when Grant introduced me to her in Charade.
Who would you be thrilled to meet, and what would you say?
Apart from my two favorite stars I mentioned above, it'd have to be Walt Disney - to just say, "thank you"
What do you collect?
Movies on Blu-ray - i simply love to see a classic restored and presented in such brilliance.
If you had to pick just one, what would be your favorite movie?
Again, with the tough questions, however, I'd have to say Hitchcock's North by Northwest. A classic that has all the elements that make a film great come together... superb! Plus, it is the quintessential example of an ordinary man placed in an extraordinary situation... my favorite scenario.
